Each year, thousands visit this site of profound historical significance, walking the &#8220;Palmach Trail&#8221; and commemorating the brave soldiers who fought here during Israel&#8217;s War of Independence. The fortress earned its current name &#8211; Metzudat Koach (meaning &#8220;Fortress 28&#8221;) &#8211; after the 28 soldiers who fell during its eventual capture, following three intense battles by Palmach and Haganah forces.<\/p>\n<p class=\"whitespace-pre-wrap break-words\" dir=\"ltr\">The Museum of Comradeship (HaReut Museum) was born from the vision of Yehuda Dekel, who lost twelve close friends and three commanders from Kibbutz Dafna&#8217;s Hachsharat HaZofim during the second battle in 1948.
