First observation point: top of the Qeshet Cave
How to get there: about 2km after passing the Western Galilean town of Shelomi toward east (route 899), turn left toward Kibbutz Adamit (route 8993) and climb the winding road. At the top of the climb there's a turn right to Adamit Park. Drive to the park and follow the signs to Qeshet Cave, park your car and follow handicap accessible trail to the impressive cave.
What do we see: from the top of the Qeshet Cave we observe the western border of the Galilee; the Mediterranean coastline lies ahead, Rosh HaNiqra, the Achziv Beach and the city of Nahariya, all spread underneath.
What do we do: watch and enjoy. At some days you'll be able to watch the rappelling lessons that take place from top of the cave to its ground.
Second observation point: top of Mount Ari
How to get there: drive back to route 899 and turn right (westwards) and drive to Kabri junction (route 70). Turn left (eastwards) toward Maalot, pass the village of Maalot and after passing the Montfort Lake on your left, take a right toward Peqiin (route 864). This road is one of the most beautiful roads in the Galilee. After passing the village of Peqiin, there's a turn left toward Beit Jan, about a 100 meters after the turn to Mitzpe Harashim. Take the turn to Beit Jan and drive to the entrance of the large Druze village.
After the entrance, take the right lane and drive inside the village while following the signs for Bahaa Al-Din (Hebrew: בהאא אל-דין), a secret Druze site in the memory of Nebbi Bahaa Al-Din who took part in the funding of the Druze religion during the 11th century. After reaching the site turn left, to the top of the mountain and to Mount Ari parking lot. Caution! The parking lot ends with a steep cliff!
What do we see: spectacular views of the Upper Galilee southern border, from the Mediterranean, through the Beit HaKerem Valley and to the Sea of Galilee, an outstanding view.
What do we do: try not to fly away with the wind (unless you have a paraglider with you for there's a launching point in the place) and enjoying unusual views.
Third observation point: top of Mount Meron
How to get there: the main way obligate you to drive back to route 899 (almost to the Montfort Lake) and turn right toward the town of Horfesh, pass the town and after 5km turn right to the Mount Meron Nature Reserve.
The shorter and much prettier way takes you through the village of Beit Jan northwards to the beginning of the "Fight Road" (a shortcut paved by the Druze villagers to connect Beit Jan and Horfesh and caused conflicts between the Druze people to the authorities). It is hard to explain how to cross the village but it is very simple to go back to the entrance from which we arrived and ask directions to the Horfesh shortcut. After arriving to the shortcut you drive a very pretty road to the exit east of Horfesh town. Turn right and drive about 4km to the turn right to Mount Meron Nature Reserve.
After the turn continue with the road and climb to the parking of the observation point.
What do we see: we are standing 1208 meters above sea level and at the highest point in the Galilee. From the mountaintop there's a 1.5km walking trail surrounding the summit and allows you to see the entire borders of the Galilee from the Mediterranean through the Lebanon Mountains, the city of Safed and the Lower Galilee.
What do we do: walk easily, breath the mountain air and enjoy one of Israel's most beautiful observation points.
Fourth observation point: Naftali Mountains Scenic Road
How to get there: exit the Mount Meron Nature Reserve and take a right toward Kibbutz Sasa. After passing the Kibbutz take the second left toward Baram (the first left is to Shelomi).
Continue with the road toward Malkiya (route 899), pass the Kibbutz and after about 5km turn left toward Kibbutz Yiftah. Several km after Kibbutz Yiftah there's a right turn to the Naftali Mountains Scenic Road.
What do we see: the road, paved by the JNF, overlooks the Galilee Panhandle and the eastern border of the Galilee all the way to the Golan Heights. The road splits along the cliff, goes through the middle of the Manara Cliff (just under the cable-car), above Qiryat Shemona City and ends in front of Kibbutz Kefar Giladi, just nearby the Roaring Lion statue.
What do we do: drive carefully, stop everywhere you feel like picnicking and enjoy the amazing views.
