The Winery in the Upper Galilee offers a variety of award-winning wines, a tasting tour and wine boxes
Galil Mountain Winery, founded in 2000, is located next to Kibbutz Yiron on the northern border.
The winery is a leader in sustainability and produces wines dedicated to expressing the terroir of the Upper Galilee. However, it is located only 700 meters from the Lebanese border, and both the winery building and the vineyards are in a distinct danger zone.
They have been under attack for the last 12 months. As a result of this, the visitors’ center is closed and some employees have been living in temporary accommodation already for a year.
The winery produces wines from a variety of vineyards in the Upper Galilee: Misgav Am, Manara, Yiftah, Ramot Naftali, Malkiah and Yiron.
The vineyard managers, growers, winemakers and employees have nobly continued their work under constant fire from Hezbollah. Some vineyards have been burnt, others are too dangerous to work in, nevertheless the winemaking team continue to be devoted to the main task: producing quality Galilean wines which win major awards in the most important international competitions.
The winery produces a wide variety of wines at different price points. These range from young and approachable wines for relaxed enjoyment, up to the rare, prestigious Single Vineyard wines. Most well-known is the winery’s flagship wines which are under the Yiron label. These frequently have received third party recognition at the very highest level over the last two decades.
Despite operating on a war footing with all the concerns and safety issues, Galil Mountain Winery is proud to retain its optimism without compromising its standards and values. The search for quality is paramount, whilst promoting sustainability.
Most important, they continue to make wines with a distinct sense of ‘place’, that are exported and appreciated all over the world.
