Kibbutz Lotan is located in the southern Aravah where “wind and earth meet” – you are welcome to stay with us at the Lotan Desert Travelers’ Village and enjoy a desert hospitality experience suitable for couples as well as families and groups. The kibbutz features multiple attractions such as enjoying the Eco-Kef – a photogenic and colorful ecological park, mud and ecological workshops, and a special gathering with locals to get to know the world of creative ecology and sustainability.
Hotel Rooms
The hotel has 26 guest rooms – 21 rooms for a couple and two children (a double bed and sofa opening into two separate beds), 4 rooms for a couple + 3 (a double bed and retractable bunk beds) and an accessible apartment for a couple + 4. The rooms are decorated with a perfect desert vibe, featuring artistic stucco plaster – putting you into the southern Aravah atmosphere.
Around the travelers’ village, you’ll find pleasant seating areas and decorative clay benches under the shade of the trees – inviting you to become one with the desert’s natural world, the sky and the Mountains of Edom during sunrise and sunset. The hotel compound features a fully equipped central kitchen and in addition, each room features a kitchenette including a microwave, coffee area, kettle and mini-refrigerator, and free TV and wi-fi.
Desert Breakfast
A hearty and varied breakfast made of fresh produce from our organic gardens, including salads, cheeses, breads, and more. Meals are served in the teahouse, located in the Eco-Kef ecological compound. In addition to breakfast, the Super Food Truck also offers sandwiches, pizzas, soups, tortillas, desserts, and more. The Super Food Truck is certified kosher and Vegan Friendly.
Attractions and Activities for the Whole Family in Walking Distance
The Eco-Kef Park, made entirely of recycled materials, features shaded seating areas, organic gardens, mud-building compounds, biogas system demonstration stations, and compost. The park compound also features the Super Food truck, the solar teahouse, and many more surprises.

There’s nothing like a swimming pool with a desert mountain view! You’re invited to visit the Kibbutz Lotan pool (seasonal – from Passover to Sukkot). Additional attractions within walking distance: A soccer field and basketball court, disk golf facilities, a tour of the special ecological campus with the mud domes, bonfires or morning yoga in the geodesic dome, and endless little nooks looking out on the Edom Mountains.
Attractions and Hikes in the Southern Aravah
In the southern Aravah, within a 30 minute drive, you can enjoy a tour of the Arts House in Neot Smadar, a tour of Kibbutz Ketora, ice cream and a visit to the Yotvata Park, a walk through the wondrous Timna Park, a tour of the Five Senses Greenhouse in Elipaz, the market in Eilat, and, of course, everything Eilat has to offer. The dolphin reef, the underwater observatory, malls, the Big compound, the beach, ice skating, and more.
